Vinyl Transfers

We have a passion for the quality playback of vinyl! Our legendary Thorens TD-124 turntable, Shure VX-15 mk IV cartridge and Harmon Kardon A300 tube preamp combine to make the best sounding transfer possible. The signal is then converted to digital via the Cranesong Spider 24-bit/ 96 kHz analog to digital conversion, with a pure Class A gain stage. You master can be archived to CD-Audio (16-bit/44.1 kHz), DVD-V (24-bit/ 96 kHz) CD-ROM or hard drive.

Before we transfer your priceless recording, we clean every record thoroughly using the Nitty Gritty Record Master vaccuum cleaning system. This is generally acknowledged as the finest and safest cleaning process available for cleaning records. The secret is that the cleaning fluids -a nd all the grime they release - are vaccuumed off upside down, using gravity to pull the dirt out of the grooves. The cleaning of records is included in the price of the transfer and is mandatory, as we only transfer clean records on our equipment.

Transferring a 78 is not a simple proposition. We have specialized stylus and cleaners for 78s. Our extensive research into 78 rpm playback has left us well informed on the subject of which of the 10 different EQ curves were used with which releases over the years. Our transcription tonearm allows us to adjust the alignment of the needle to inspect both the left and the right wall of the groove, so we can transcribe the best sounding side (usually one wall is more worn than another).

Usually it takes 1.5 - 2 times the real time of the record to transfer the first record correctly. Additional records run right about 1.5 times real time per disc. For large jobs and to discuss shipping of valuable records, call us or email.
