How to Best Deliver Your Project for Mastering![]() First, consult our list of supported formats and delivery mediums, here. We can work from any materials on that list. On that entire list, there are only 2 formats which we feel consistently provide excellent audio performance, these are 1/2" analog 30 ips stereo tape and 24 bit digital audio. Both are highly recommended. Our analog deck is the legendary Ampex ATR 102 with 1/2" Flux Magnetic extended response heads and 1/4" heads, so you can count on the highest quality analog playback. For digital audio files, they should ideally be a 24-bit Stereo WAV, AIF or SDII file, at the original sample rate your session was recorded at. We can work with split stereo files but occasionally they cause issues that only get resolved with extra expense, so try to export your files as interleaved stereo files. Provide us with a CD-ROM (not a CD Audio-if it plays in your CD player it is not 24 bit audio!!), a hard drive or other removable media. We now also offer convenient web-based upload and FTP of your files, so if you have a FAST internet connection it may be reasonable to just transfer them here over the net. Of course we support 16 bit DAT and CD Audio, even MP3, we are merely recommending our favorite sources to work from, for the highest quality results. In addition to the list of formats we support, remember that if you have a recording device (like those crazy Roland all-in-one units that can play the mix at 24 bit depth but can't burn a 24 bit file, we can work from it, just bring it to the session (please do make advance arrangements though, so we can be sure to interface correctly with your equipment). |
