Mr. Toad's Mastering Gear

We feel our mastering room is one of the finest listening environments anywhere. The centerpiece of our system are the Dunlavy SC-IV monitors, a sealed cabinet design that offers flat frequency response within +/- 1 dB from 32 to 20,000 cycles. Standing over 6 feet tall, Dunlavy's are legendary for their precise imaging and frequency response. When matched with our Hafler 9505 amp and Cranesong Avocet D/A converters, this combination provides a monitoring solution that we believe is one of the finest available anywhere, at any price. What it means to you is that when we are mastering your record we are listening in the clearest, most accurate environment we can create. It allows for clear decision making and little ear fatigue.

To enhance the recording that we are listening to so accurately, we use quite a few digital dynamics processors to give your recordings the polish that every record deserves. We feature Waves Linear Phase mastering tools - the Liner Phase Broadband and Lowband EQ's and Multi-Band compressor (a mind-numbing 5 bands of phase coherent compression or expansion). We also have over 50 other quality algorithms at our disposal to alter psychoacoustics, de-click audio, reduce sibilance, add reverb and special effects.

Our Analog to Digital converters are the Mytek 8X96 and the Spider by Cranesong. The Myteks are one of the finest, cleanest-sounding converters we've ever heard. The Spider features designer Dave Hill's unique take on digital audio by incorporating saturatable "analog dither" and "fat" settings to take digital conversion to where it has not been before. With both the Mytek and Cranesong featuring 8 channels of matched A/D, it is ideally suited for capturing 5.1 surround audio.
