Recording

Mr. Toad’s combines state-of-the-art two-inch analog 24-track Dolby SR recording with 24-tracks of 20-bit ADAT digital recording. Our analog recorder is the Otari MTR-100a and using the built-in Dolby SR, our machine can run as slow as 15 ips while delivering some of the best sound in the industry. Our ADATs synchronize to the analog machine allowing up to 46 channels of total recording . MOTU’s 2408 computer interface allows for 24 bit sample-accurate editing of your original tracks. The mixing console is an automated AMEK Einstein with 64 mixer inputs, with all faders and mutes automated. Monitoring is via Mackie 824’s and JBL 4412 monitors. Mixdown options are via Apogee 24 bit A to D converters directly to CD-ROM (standard) or to the Ampex ATR 102 1/2” 2 track recorder (optional).

The Studios

Our facility has a 1200 square foot (20,000 cu. ft.) tracking room with a 16 foot high ceiling. Located within the tracking room we have an isolation booth for drums and/or other instruments, built out of hardwood, marble, and glass to offer superior visability and communication coupled with tight acoustics. Another entire corner of the tracking room is constructed of oak flooring and walls, for a warm recording environment. The opposite corner has marble slabs for walls, for a wet effect. Located within the control room is a 100 square foot isolation booth for voice and/or acoustic instruments. It is acoustically dead with options for a corrugated metal wall, mahogany wall, and/or barnwood wall. Our 500 square foot control room has a 16 foot ceiling as well. There is also a guest lobby with a smoking section and a freight elevator.
