Video CD![]() The Video CD (abbreviated as VCD) is an MPEG-1 based CD format. It's basically a primitive version of DVD. Its resolution is 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL), with a stereo 44.1 kHz audio track. If the MPEG-1 is encoded properly, VCD is much the same quality as VHS. A single VCD disc can hold about 70 minutes of video and while it never worked out for Hollywood the karaoke business loves it. It has a single menu screen. You can play VCDs on a PC with a CD-ROM drive and most DVD players can also play VCDs. |
